This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the commercial contracting and the development of Payscale’s strategy concerning privacy, data, and AI.
• Ensure compliance with the constantly changing global technology regulations.
• Provide guidance on products and business initiatives that may have regulatory implications.
• Evaluate customer contracts, vendor agreements, and data processing contracts for privacy risks, AI governance needs, and third-party data-sharing limitations.
• Oversee the maintenance of corporate policies, terms of service, and associated legal documents.
• Perform risk assessments and offer advice on data management for new features, integrations, and business initiatives.
• Assist in responding to data subject access requests, deletion requests, incident management, and regulatory inquiries.
• Work collaboratively with Sales, Product, Engineering, Information Security, and other departments to instill compliance-by-design principles.
• Keep track of the regulatory landscape and inform company leaders about new developments.
• Aid in the implementation of proactive compliance strategies.
• Create and present training for internal teams on regulatory compliance matters.
• Coordinate third-party due diligence in conjunction with risk and governance teams.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, the EU AI Act, and other U.S. and international privacy, data security, and AI legislation.
• Experience providing advice to SaaS, data analytics, or technology firms on regulatory compliance, particularly in privacy, data security, and AI.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice.
• Proven ability to work across different functions.
• Strong judgment and the capacity to independently manage a diverse range of issues.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as SOC 2 or FedRAMP.
• Understanding of technical concepts related to data security and infrastructure.
• Experience as in-house counsel at a growth-stage technology firm.
• Demonstrated interest in utilizing AI tools to enhance daily processes.
• High-speed broadband or fiber internet with a minimum speed of 100 Mbps in a dedicated workspace.
• Device for multifactor authentication (MFA/2FA).
