β’ Develop and document technical standards, reference designs, design templates, and assumptions for simulations.
β’ Spearhead simulation, system behavior analysis, and trade studies to assess conveyor topology, accumulation, buffering, station-to-station flow, equipment selection, spatial footprint, costs, throughput, robustness, bottlenecks, and layout alternatives.
β’ Construct and sustain simulation models, reusable simulation elements, and validation techniques.
β’ Collaborate with Controls and Software teams to ensure that conveyor architecture and simulation models align with sensing, PLC/control logic, fault recovery, traffic management, and system behavior.
β’ Work alongside Applications Engineering for solution feasibility reviews.
β’ Join forces with Solutions Architecture to provide design guidance, layout constraints, and customer-facing system configurations.
β’ Assess third-party conveyor components, vendor capabilities, and integration strategies.
β’ Convert deployment feedback, customer limitations, field challenges, and manufacturing insights into enhanced standards and product design updates.
β’ Keep updated conveyor and simulation documentation, including standard layouts, interface control documents, design guides, modeling assumptions, validation techniques, and engineering decision records.
β’ Offer technical leadership and mentorship in conveyor optimization, simulation techniques, and cross-functional design decisions.
β’ Proven experience in conveyor design, accumulation, buffering, merges, diverts, station interfaces, equipment utilization, and material flow constraints.
β’ Proficiency with AutoCAD or a comparable 2D/3D layout tool.
β’ Familiarity with Emulate3D / Sim3D from Rockwell Automation or a similar simulation/modeling tool.
β’ Strong grasp of throughput, bottlenecks, service access, safety, installation, maintainability, MTBF/MTTR, OEE, and operational robustness.
β’ Ability to navigate clear engineering trade-offs across performance, cost, footprint, manufacturability, serviceability, customer requirements, and system behavior.
β’ Experience in providing technical leadership to engineers, including setting direction, reviewing work, mentoring team members, and coordinating execution across various disciplines.
β’ Ability to articulate and convey technical strategy, assumptions, priorities, risks, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Proven ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, operations, applications, and solutions architecture teams.
β’ Familiarity with PLC systems or a strong understanding of industrial controls.
β’ Background in working with conveyor vendors, systems integrators, installation teams, customer site engineering teams, or automation partners.
β’ Experience in developing standards, design guides, templates, or reusable engineering tools.
β’ Proficient in Python and/or C++ for simulation, automation, data analysis, tooling, or performance profiling.
β’ Experience with Nvidia Omniverse, digital twins, virtual commissioning, MBSE tools, or other system modeling frameworks.
β’ Background in developing reusable simulation components, APIs, SDKs, or modeling tools.
β’ Experience with robotics simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, software-in-the-loop testing, or production software integration.
β’ Experience in designing conveyor systems for robotic automation, fulfillment, parcel, logistics, manufacturing, or warehouse automation settings.
β’ Familiarity with integrating conveyor systems with robots, sorters, scanners, sensors, PLCs, safety systems, WMS/WES/WCS platforms, or customer facility controls.
