This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, enhancing efficiency through faster, cleaner, and more automated cycles.
• Ensure that financial statements comply with GAAP standards, with a strong emphasis on revenue recognition for both usage-based and milestone-based enterprise contracts.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and collections, which includes handling enterprise-level invoicing.
• Oversee accounting for the global workforce, including contractor payments and payroll in collaboration with the PEO.
• Design and implement internal controls that are suitable for the company's current stage, enhancing them as the company expands.
• Coordinate with external advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international tax regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external accountants and tax advisors, while also scaling the accounting team over time.
• Assess and deploy accounting systems and tools that can grow alongside the business.
• Collaborate with the Director of FP&A to ensure a seamless transition between actuals and planning, ensuring that reporting and forecasting utilize consistent figures.
• Work closely with the Legal and People teams regarding contract structuring, compensation, and compliance matters.
• A minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, preferably including a role as an Assistant Controller or accounting lead within a high-growth company.
• CPA certification is highly preferred, accompanied by strong GAAP knowledge and practical experience with ASC 606 for enterprise revenue.
• Comfortable managing international operations, including global payroll and contractor payments across different jurisdictions.
• Possess a builder mentality: you have established processes and systems from the ground up rather than simply taking over existing ones.
• Demonstrate self-sufficiency and resourcefulness; able to navigate challenges independently.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating accounting decisions to non-finance stakeholders, including leadership.
