Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a team of 12 accounting professionals.

• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

• Supervise accounting functions across Echelon's entities, which include Canadian and UK companies.

• Manage general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and essential accounting tasks.

• Uphold accounting policies and internal controls.

• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP standards.

• Oversee inventory and cost accounting, revenue recognition, and related reconciliations.

• Collaborate with finance and business leaders on cash flow, working capital, financial analysis, and operational decisions.

• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax consultants.

• Identify and rectify accounting issues, reconciliation backlogs, and process deficiencies.

• Enhance accounting systems, workflows, documentation, and automation.

• Convey financial results, risks, and priorities to senior leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA is highly preferred.

• Over 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant roles as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader.

• Proven track record in managing and developing an accounting team.

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end closing, and internal controls.

• Hands-on experience with NetSuite and QuickBooks.

• Ability to oversee accounting across multiple entities and accounting systems.

• Experience in inventory-based businesses with multiple revenue streams.

• Exceptional analytical skills with the capacity to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.

• Proven capability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and accountability.

• Proficient with AI tools, including Claude, and diligent in reviewing AI-generated work for accuracy.
