Controller, Accountant – all genders

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Provide ongoing support for financial accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed asset accounting.

• Review, categorize, and post incoming and outgoing invoices at the document level.

• Conduct intercompany reconciliations and settlements among different entities.

• Manage payment transactions.

• Actively assist in preparing annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB), which includes the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

• Maintain and implement monthly reporting, providing commentary on management accounts (BWA).

• Analyze variances between budgeted and actual figures and derive suitable business measures.

• Prepare budgets, forecasts, reports, and liquidity overviews for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

• Operate across multiple entities, managing approximately 150,000 transactions annually.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in accounting, covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting—ideally within a multi-entity environment or a role with significant independent responsibility.

• Proficient in detailed invoice review and coding.

• Strong comprehension of financial statements prepared in line with German GAAP (HGB).

• Previous experience in supporting the preparation of annual financial statements is preferred.

• Expertise in controlling: extracting KPIs, forecasts, and business measures from financial data.

• Proficiency in DATEV is essential.

• Advanced skills in Excel.

• Quick to learn new concepts.

• A high level of independence.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Fluent in both German and English, with professional-level written and spoken proficiency.

• Initial experience with BI tools and creating reporting structures from the ground up is advantageous.

• A background in hospitality, real estate, or a multi-entity setup is a plus.

• Interest in automation and process optimization, including API integrations and automated postings, is a plus.
