Controller – CPG, E-Commerce

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage a team of Accounting Managers, bookkeepers, and a portfolio of clients

• Provide support, direction, supervision, and training to the team

• Oversee the month-end closing process and essential accounting tasks

• Analyze management reports, key performance indicators, accounting packages, reconciliations, and trends in balance sheets and profit & loss statements

• Review inventory reconciliations, write-offs, adjustments for obsolescence, product costs, and inventory systems

• Examine accounts receivable processing and aging reports

• Assess accounts payable processing, aging reports, and payments via Bill.com

• Oversee payroll processing, journal entries, and accruals

• Generate ad hoc reports and insights

• Develop client dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs)

• Assist clients in creating finance and accounting standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Educate clients about their financial status and act as a strategic advisor and thought partner

• Manage client communications and act as an escalation point for issues

• Create SOPs and training materials

• Lead training sessions

• Foster efficiencies, build automations, and implement AI solutions where feasible

• Oversee the budget for the pod

• Ensure organized files and document storage

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in full-cycle accounting

• At least 2 years of experience in a multi-client or consulting capacity

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Excel is essential

• Experience with NetSuite and Xero is highly preferred

• Experience with e-commerce clients is necessary

• Familiarity with typical e-commerce technology stacks, such as Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, and Bill.com, is required

• Experience with wholesale and retail platforms like SPS Commerce and Target is highly valued

• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices is necessary

• Experience in audit and/or due diligence support is highly valued

• Solid comprehension of financial statements and their evaluation is required

• Exceptional analytical and communication skills are essential

• Ability to prioritize effectively and manage time in a remote work setting is required

• A proactive and team-oriented attitude is essential
