Control Plane, Portal, API Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Create and develop control-plane services for managing tenants, including quota, metering/billing, ticketing, RBAC/permissions, and customer portal/API systems.

• Design the separation of global versus regional control-planes and ensure consistency across regions for tenant, quota, and billing systems.

• Implement self-service onboarding and automation processes to remove manual delivery steps.

• Guarantee accuracy and auditability of billing and metering systems.

• Develop operational tools to detect, isolate, and recover from issues to enhance stability.

• Collaborate with Compute to establish region-aware scheduling and placement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in building backend services, control planes, or web platforms (6+ years for Senior positions).

• Proficient backend engineering skills in Go, Java, or Python.

• Experience in API design.

• Background in distributed systems.

• Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS or cloud control planes.

• Frontend/console experience with React or Vue for full-stack roles.

• Understanding of RBAC, OAuth/OIDC authentication, and auditing processes.

• Experience with multi-region/distributed consistency is a plus.

• Strong experience with billing and quota systems is highly advantageous.
