Contract Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain scalable, fault-tolerant ELT pipelines utilizing Python.

• Construct clean, analytics-ready datasets suitable for BI, forecasting, and ML feature utilization.

• Refine and enhance current data workflows in response to evolving product requirements.

• Create and optimize dbt models for improved performance.

• Develop and uphold dbt tests and associated documentation.

• Manage and oversee workflows utilizing Dagster.

• Track pipeline health through observability tools and performance metrics.

• Diagnose pipeline failures, performance challenges, and data discrepancies.

• Establish and uphold data quality checks and testing methodologies.

• Adhere to team standards for SLAs, code quality, and deployment processes.

• Collaborate with Data Scientists on forecasting and AI-driven projects.

• Engage cross-functionally with Product, Analytics, and Data Science teams.

• Partner closely with clients to address data-related challenges.

• Assist in customer onboarding and reporting processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.

• Practical experience with dbt Core or Cloud.

• Direct experience with Dagster or comparable orchestration tools.

• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.

• Proven track record of working cross-functionally with Product, Analytics, or Data Science teams.

• Strong command of Python, including libraries such as pandas, SQLAlchemy, and psycopg2.

• Advanced SQL capabilities, encompassing CTEs, window functions, and query optimization.

• Knowledge of modern ELT tools such as Airbyte, Fivetran, Meltano, or dltHub.

• Competence in diagnosing pipeline failures, performance issues, and data inconsistencies.

• Ability to collaborate closely with clients to resolve data issues.

• Capacity to work independently and deliver results in a contract environment.

• Must be available to work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.

• Proficiency in English is required for the application and resume.
