Content Developer, Social Studies – 12 Month Limited Term

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and evaluate social studies test items and stimuli, which include multiple choice questions, technology-enhanced tasks, extended responses, cluster sets, and performance-based activities across various grade levels for large-scale assessments.

• Assist in creating specifications for social studies items, passages, and tests, along with item development plans, test blueprints, and other related documents.

• Utilize AI-driven tools to assist in the development, review, and enhancement of social studies assessment content, ensuring that all outputs adhere to quality and accessibility standards.

• Work collaboratively with team members to incorporate AI-generated materials into assessment workflows, offering feedback grounded in social studies content and educational expertise.

• Aid in the selection, assignment, management, and training of item/passage writers and educators to create social studies items that align with standards, cognitive complexity, and best practices in item development.

• Support and facilitate customer meetings while providing expertise in social studies assessment.

• Oversee activities related to test construction and the review of created test forms.

• Consult with clients during planning, status updates, and review meetings.

• Collaborate closely with test development managers, content developers, psychometricians, and other groups within Pearson.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies pertinent to educational content creation and assessment, including AI advancements.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Travel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in education, social studies, or a related field is required.

• Preferred: Five years of experience as an elementary or secondary social studies teacher.

• Required: Professional knowledge of social studies and current educational trends.

• Preferred: Experience in large-scale educational measurement.

• Preferred: General understanding of all phases of development, processing, scoring, and reporting for large-scale assessments.

• Proven excellence in AI-supported content development or strong potential and readiness to effectively utilize AI in content creation.

• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for educational purposes.

• Proficiency in basic software tools and technology, along with the confidence to work with unfamiliar programs.

• A demonstrated interest in learning about and adapting to new AI technologies as they develop.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to creatively and flexibly tackle challenges with diverse audiences.

• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
