Consultant Psychiatrist, GMC-registered

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Conduct video-based psychiatric consultations for patients considering CBMP treatment, including initial assessments and ongoing evaluations.

• Make prescribing decisions based on evidence within the clinical governance framework.

• Collaborate with pharmacists and nurses as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Engage in the collection of clinical outcome data and assist in building the UK evidence base for CBMPs in psychiatry.

• Contribute to clinical governance, attend MDT meetings, and support the continuous enhancement of prescribing protocols.

• For senior candidates, take part in or lead Medical Director-level governance, prescribing policy, and clinical strategy initiatives.

• Complete a structured clinical induction that includes observing MDT meetings and shadowing patient consultations.

• Participate in high-risk and 18–24-year-old patient registers with enhanced monitoring protocols.

• Obtain documented informed consent and evaluate mental capacity in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

• Prescribe using independent clinical judgment, ensuring no connection to session volume, revenue targets, or product selection.

• Engage in monthly clinical audits evaluating consultation notes, prescribing rationale, and patient outcomes.

• Maintain GMC revalidation and good standing, promptly reporting any changes in registration.

• Full GMC Registration with a license to practice in the UK.

• Completion of Specialist Training (CCT/CCST) or equivalent certification.

• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Psychiatry.

• Genuine interest in alternative therapies and the evolving evidence surrounding CBMPs.

• Comfortable operating in a digital-first, telemedicine environment.

• Willingness to engage in structured data collection and outcome reporting.

• Completion of mandatory training before starting patient-facing duties, including role-specific modules and annual or triennial refreshers.

• Report all incidents and significant events via the incident reporting process.

• Adhere to patient confidentiality and information governance standards at all times.

• An enhanced DBS check is required prior to the commencement of work.

• Prior experience with CBMPs or a willingness to complete a recognized Medical Cannabis Course for Specialist Physicians.

• Experience in private clinics, telemedicine, or digital health settings is preferred.

• Interest in a Medical Director track or involvement in shaping clinical pathways is preferred.
