This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Prepare personal property tax returns, renditions, filings, and asset reconciliations for designated clients.
• Ensure that all relevant returns, renditions, and payments are processed and dispatched promptly.
• Review personal property tax assessments, manage assessment protests, and conduct audits.
• Address client inquiries and respond to requests from tax authorities.
• Analyze documentation and investigate issues thoroughly.
• Work with raw data to perform necessary calculations.
• Assist in overseeing a high-volume compliance portfolio.
• Deliver client service to multi-state companies while identifying tax-saving opportunities in collaboration with a team.
• Support state and local tax disputes, which includes preparing clients for auditor discussions, representing them at hearings and appeal meetings, and drafting protests.
• Maintain the annual filing calendar for clients.
• Acquire knowledge and utilize proprietary software for data management.
• Update internal compliance software with relevant tax information for assigned clients.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Public Administration, Real Estate, Business Analytics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, or a related field with a Master’s in Business Discipline or JD.
• Must have completed 6 hours of coursework in Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.25 in the major.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with one to three years of audit or tax-related experience may be considered.
• Relevant experience is preferred, including internships, summer jobs, or positions during school.
• Must reside in the Eastern Time Zone.
• Proven leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Capacity to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and navigate ambiguity effectively.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with professionals at all levels.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online research.
• A valid driver's license is required.
