This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +9 more states.
• Conduct interconnection and distribution planning studies for DER/DG, which includes analyzing hosting capacity, power flow, voltage, and protection coordination.
• Assess the impacts of solar, battery storage, and electric vehicles (EV) while identifying system constraints and strategies for mitigation.
• Create and maintain distribution system models utilizing platforms such as CYME, Synergi, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including transmission, substation, distribution design, and automation.
• Assist in client-facing project activities, engage in technical discussions, and participate in study reviews.
• Enhance the quality and consistency of engineering outputs.
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Support efforts to modernize the grid and integrate distributed energy resources into utility distribution systems.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in electric utility or distribution planning.
• Proficiency in distribution modeling and engineering analysis tools, including CYME, Synergi, ASPEN, or WindMil.
• Background in supporting DER/DG interconnection or planning studies.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% as necessary.
• FE/EIT certification or the ability to obtain one.
• Preferred: A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred: Experience with intricate DER studies, hosting capacity analysis, grid modernization, non-wires alternatives, project execution, client presentations, project financials, protective device coordination, arc flash analysis, data analysis or scripting, LoadSEER, forecasting, or long-term planning studies.
