Construction Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee long-duration BESS projects through all phases: pre-construction, Financial Investment Decision (FID), construction, commissioning, and handover to Operations.

• Manage the pre-construction period following the planning and development or acquisition of a ready-to-build asset.

• Direct the internal project team through the FID process, concentrating on the program.

• Assist in planning discharge and engaging with landowners.

• Identify value-engineering opportunities in collaboration with the in-house design team.

• Provide support to procurement and legal teams during tenders and contract negotiations.

• Lead early work packages prior to the signing of the main contract.

• Take ownership of the risk register, master project schedule, and project budget.

• Ensure alignment among the project team regarding actions, timelines, and responsibilities.

• Oversee construction activities safely while adhering to time, quality, and budget targets.

• Foster a health and safety culture across all projects.

• Manage construction contracts, including those for BESS suppliers, Balance of Plant (BoP) contractors, Transmission Operators (TO), and grid compliance packages.

• Fulfill client obligations under construction contracts.

• Prepare project management documentation and reports to meet business standards.

• Lead the planning for commissioning and energization in collaboration with engineering resources and contractors.

• Coordinate activities for revenue readiness with commercial operations.

• Evaluate the impact of construction schedules on revenue streams.

• Assist in the onboarding and integration of Asset Management contractors.

• Resolve construction defects and finalize accounts.

• Report directly to the Head of Delivery while collaborating with teams in Engineering, QHSE, Procurement, Legal, and Development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Successfully managed a minimum of 2 onshore renewable energy projects through the FID or construction stages.

• Demonstrated practical project leadership skills.

• Strong commercial acumen with experience in managing various contract types.

• Experience with FIDIC contracts would be beneficial.

• Comprehensive understanding of construction safety laws and CDM regulations.

• Detail-oriented, resilient, execution-focused, and highly engaged.

• Proven skills in stakeholder management.

• A willingness to learn and take ownership of responsibilities.

• Capability to foster collaborative and cooperative environments within project teams.
