Configuration Manager – PLM, ALM, Engineering Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Oversee configuration management tasks for intricate enterprise engineering systems, software applications, hardware/software integrated environments, and Digital Thread modernization projects.

• Develop, uphold, and implement Configuration Management Plans (CMPs).

• Lead Change Control Boards (CCBs), encompassing preparation, coordination, tracking, documentation, and follow-up processes.

• Establish and sustain configuration baselines for software, hardware, engineering data, documentation, interfaces, releases, and operational environments.

• Enforce lifecycle traceability and ensure audit readiness for complex enterprise applications.

• Coordinate configuration management across PLM, CAD data management, ALM, DevOps, software development, quality assurance, systems integration, and operational maintenance efforts.

• Monitor configuration items, version histories, change requests, approvals, release packages, baseline updates, and configuration-status accounting.

• Assist in software upgrades, system integrations, releases, deployments, cutovers, and post-deployment validation.

• Guarantee that configuration-controlled artifacts are identified, versioned, reviewed, approved, stored, and accessible to authorized stakeholders.

• Support release management and deployment readiness activities.

• Collaborate with quality assurance and testing personnel to connect configuration changes to requirements, test plans, test outcomes, defects, and resolution records.

• Maintain CMPs, configuration item inventories, baseline records, change logs, release records, CCB materials, and audit support artifacts.

• Identify risks in configuration management, control gaps, documentation shortcomings, and opportunities for process improvement; communicate findings and assist in corrective actions.

• Collaborate with project managers and technical leads to synchronize activities with schedules, milestones, deliverables, and implementation plans.

• Support governance and compliance efforts related to formal change control, regulated releases, security awareness, and structured documentation.

• Aid in knowledge transfer concerning configuration management, configuration control, change management, and release management procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 5–10 years of specialized Configuration Management experience for Senior level or 10–15 years for Principal level.

• Must have direct experience within the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), or National Laboratories; or experience within complex Department of Defense (DoD) branches, NASA, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Transportation (DOT), or major defense prime contractors; or configuration management experience in rigorously audited, highly regulated sectors such as commercial nuclear power, FDA-regulated medical devices, automotive, semiconductor manufacturing, or FAA-regulated commercial aviation.

• Must have experience with PTC products like Windchill, PDMLink, CodeBeamer, or Creo; or other significant PLM/CAD platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault Systèmes platforms, Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle/Vault, or Aras Innovator; or ALM/DevOps toolchains including Azure DevOps, Jira/Confluence, Git, GitLab, Jenkins, ServiceNow, or IBM Rational/DOORS.

• Demonstrated ability to lead Change Control Boards (CCBs), establish Configuration Management Plans (CMPs), enforce lifecycle traceability, and maintain audit readiness.

• Capability to coordinate configuration management activities across diverse technical teams, systems, interfaces, and controlled release activities.

• Proficient in producing clear, complete, and accurate configuration management documentation, change control records, baseline records, and audit support materials.

• Ability to communicate configuration management requirements, status, risks, and decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• CM certifications such as CMPIC, ITIL, or NDIA are highly desirable.
