This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Take ownership of the regulatory compliance framework for consumer credit and related financial services in Australia.
• Ensure that documented compliance arrangements align with Australian credit licence obligations and adapt to regulatory changes.
• Lead examinations, inquiries, information requests, licence interactions, and other supervisory engagements with ASIC.
• Supervise the timely and precise submission of regulatory notifications and reports.
• Maintain the register of Australian regulatory obligations and the compliance risk assessment process.
• Establish remediation priorities and conduct root-cause analyses.
• Monitor compliance metrics and indicators of risk.
• Evaluate incidents and breaches, and oversee reporting decisions.
• Manage, mentor, and develop junior compliance professionals.
• Convert global compliance strategies into operational plans specific to Australia.
• Collaborate with various teams to offer practical regulatory guidance.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in regulatory compliance within the Australian regulated financial services, consumer credit, payments, or fintech sectors, along with required prior people management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Australian consumer credit and conduct regulations, ASIC expectations, credit licensing, responsible lending, product governance, and requirements for complaints and breach reporting, with the ability to apply regulatory interpretations to practical business situations.
• Proven track record in managing teams, prioritizing tasks, and executing programs effectively.
• Experience in leading regulatory changes, managing obligations, compliance monitoring and testing, handling breaches and reportable situations, overseeing complaints, regulatory reporting, and remediation initiatives.
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent executive communication skills, both clear and concise.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced fintech environment.
• A bachelor's degree is mandatory; qualifications in law, compliance, risk, governance, or financial services are preferred.
