Compliance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold technical controls across SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and various enterprise security and compliance frameworks.

• Streamline compliance workflows, evidence gathering, access evaluations, security audits, and repetitive tasks through automation.

• Collaborate with the Engineering and Security teams to establish and oversee controls for access management, infrastructure, data protection, logging, and vulnerability management.

• Facilitate audits by managing technical evidence collection and liaising with auditors to meet compliance standards.

• Address customer and internal security inquiries, compliance obligations, and technical due diligence requests.

• Detect compliance and security program deficiencies and develop scalable systems to rectify them.

• Work closely with Engineering, Security, Legal, and customer-facing teams to ensure infrastructure and products remain secure, compliant, and suitable for enterprise use.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong technical foundation in software engineering, security, infrastructure, IT, or a similar discipline.

• A keen interest in compliance, security, and scalable compliance initiatives.

• Capability to understand security and compliance frameworks and translate requirements into actionable technical solutions.

• Proficient scripting or programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a comparable language.

• Comprehension of IAM, encryption, networking, logging, vulnerability management, and cloud security concepts.

• Highly analytical mindset for addressing ambiguous challenges.

• Comfort in collaborating with Engineering, Security, Legal, and customer-facing teams.

• Ability to clearly convey technical and compliance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or other compliance frameworks is advantageous.

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Vanta, Drata, Wiz, Okta, or similar tools is a plus.

• Must be willing to maintain some overlapping hours with the Pacific Time team and customers.
