This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Oversee commissioning operations to guarantee safety, efficiency, high-quality work, and cost control.

• Assist site teams with labor planning, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractor coordination.

• Collaborate with specifications and contractual obligations.

• Contribute technical knowledge and insights for power-generating construction initiatives.

• Provide guidance on installation, lead QA/QC efforts, manage scheduling, and facilitate communication with owners concerning commissioning.

• Set the direction for on-site Commissioning Foremen, ensuring effective utilization of company resources and compliance with policies and regulations.

• Promote safe working environments and adherence to safety protocols, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Exposure Hazard Analyses (EHAs), and the company’s CATS program.

• Supervise both Blattner and subcontractor operations to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

• Serve as a commissioning consultant for transmission lines, interconnection systems, switchgear, electrical circuits, power quality, high-voltage collection/distribution systems, and substations.

• Report project challenges to the Site Manager.

• Track actual expenses against estimates and report any cost overruns related to commissioning/testing.

• Assist the Project Manager with budgeting for testing and commissioning, as well as managing change orders.

• Assess the safety and skill levels of Commissioning Forepersons.

• Provide engineering support for the review, procurement, construction, and startup of high- or medium-voltage electrical systems and related substations.

• Coordinate engineering assistance, consultation, and peer reviews for critical commissioning challenges.

• Collaborate with corporate managers on contractor, journeyman/master electrician, or photovoltaic licensing matters.

• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

• Audit electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), testing, energization, and commissioning procedures for photovoltaic arrays.

• Ensure that testing and commissioning personnel receive prompt technical and safety training.

• Guide Commissioning Foremen in work discipline, cost management, scope, quality, and safety practices.

• Execute additional tasks as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in construction fieldwork.

• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle driving record (MVR).

• Familiarity with Electrical Overhead Transmission systems.

• Understanding of Electrical Underground and Collection systems.

• Knowledge of Substation Construction processes.

• Experience with Transmission Utility Interconnections.

• Awareness of Electrical Engineering Communication Systems.

• Capability to perform administrative duties.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

• Basic knowledge of safety in construction, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems.

• Ability to supervise a diverse group of employees.

• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with owners, subcontractors, and team members.

• Solid grasp of job progress tracking and cost management.

• Knowledge of the National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) standards.

• Familiarity with NFPA 70E regulations.

• Understanding of SCADA systems.

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently.

• Capable of working remotely from home one week each month.

• Compliance with company policies, job site-specific regulations, and federal and state safety standards is essential.

• Oversight of qualified and trained personnel for switch and tag protocols, proximity distances, arc flash safety, and the use of protective equipment.
