Commissioning Project Manager – Mid-Atlantic Travel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee and provide commissioning services throughout the facility's planning, design, construction, warranty, and operational phases.

• Implement commissioning, energy management, and facilities management services for both new and existing buildings across multiple simultaneous projects.

• Evaluate and interpret RFPs, design and construction documentation, standards, codes, scopes, and project outputs.

• Develop commissioning plans, specifications, checklists, functional performance tests, and comprehensive reports.

• Carry out design reviews, submittal assessments, training-plan evaluations and facilitation, as well as O&M manual examinations.

• Perform site observations and oversee functional performance testing.

• Address coordination challenges impacting the startup of equipment, systems, and testing processes.

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, commissioning plans, and contractual documents.

• Participate in both internal and external project meetings.

• Assess technical reports for thoroughness and accuracy, including start-up reports, checkout documents, and testing reports.

• Facilitate the transition of systems to operational status and the implementation of maintenance strategies.

• Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with internal personnel, external collaborators, and clients.

• Offer technical and analytical support to project teams.

• Assist in the preparation of bid and proposal materials.

• Follow standard operating procedures and established processes.

• Create project estimates, timelines, and action plans.

• Conduct project evaluations and generate status reports and presentations for the company and/or client.

• Execute quality assurance on project outputs and activities.

• Prioritize assignments and execute work efficiently within set budgets and timelines.

• Mentor junior staff and review their work as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A High School Diploma combined with 13 years of directly relevant experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in commissioning facility systems such as lighting, HVAC, power distribution, generation, power monitoring and controls, UPS, and emergency power.

• At least 4 years of experience in managing or supervising staff.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in managing commissioning and/or engineering-related projects.

• Possession of a CxA, CCP, CBCP, or equivalent Commissioning Certification.

• Extensive understanding of commissioning standards and practices, including LEED, ASHRAE, BCA, ACG, and GSA.

• Direct experience with ASHRAE Energy Audits and energy engineering.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams, MS Project, PowerPoint) and scheduling software.

• A valid State Issued Driver's License and the ability to travel to various job sites.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance based on customer and project requirements.

• Preferred: Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.

• Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

• Preferred: Experience in integrating mechanical systems with electrical, life safety, and security systems.

• Preferred: Familiarity with database management systems for commissioning and core business processes.

• Must be able to work in an office setting.

• Must be capable of navigating construction sites with uneven surfaces, lifting up to 25 lbs., climbing stairs and ladders, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments under severe weather conditions, confined spaces, and dusty settings.

• Must maintain spatial awareness and adhere to safety protocols near mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment.

• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
