This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +7 more states.
β’ Promote and enhance underwriting excellence across the Commercial Surety sector.
β’ Oversee account-level and portfolio underwriting tasks with significant independence.
β’ Formulate, implement, and execute underwriting strategies in partnership with senior leadership.
β’ Act as a technical expert and trusted advisor to underwriting teams and business leaders.
β’ Spearhead underwriting initiatives and projects that align with business growth, profitability, and risk management goals.
β’ Assess portfolio performance, recognize trends, and take necessary underwriting actions.
β’ Engage in underwriting, compliance, and internal audits as required.
β’ Identify and resolve economic, regulatory, and legal issues affecting underwriting outcomes.
β’ Collaborate with Product, Risk Management, Actuarial, Legal, and Claims partners to enhance underwriting quality and innovation.
β’ Mentor and nurture underwriters through coaching, guidance, and technical support.
β’ Assist in the creation and delivery of underwriting tools, resources, and training programs.
β’ Extensive experience in Large Account Commercial Surety underwriting.
β’ Over 10 years of experience in Commercial Surety underwriting.
β’ Proven track record in leading underwriting strategies, portfolio oversight, or initiatives aimed at underwriting excellence.
β’ Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to influence others without having direct authority.
β’ Strong skills in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and execution.
β’ Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative approach across functions.
β’ Advanced understanding of Commercial Surety underwriting principles, practices, and risk assessment techniques.
β’ Comprehensive knowledge of portfolio management, performance monitoring, and underwriting controls.
β’ Insight into market trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
β’ Capability to assess complex risks and apply sound underwriting judgment.
β’ Experience in utilizing underwriting systems, data, and analytics for informed decision-making.
β’ High proficiency with underwriting tools, systems, and analytical platforms.
β’ Willingness to travel as necessary.
