This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +5 more states.
• Identify, solicit, underwrite, and sell new and renewal accounts in the Allied Healthcare sector.
• Drive profitable growth that aligns with industry segments, underwriting appetite, and mix objectives.
• Provide insurance solutions that assist customers in managing their risks.
• Make risk decisions for individuals and portfolios utilizing both internal and external data.
• Manage an assigned portfolio characterized by high technical complexity and minimal guidance.
• Present business strategy insights and apply advanced underwriting principles.
• Correlate pricing with exposure assessments, financial analyses, and competitive evaluations.
• Apply CAT guidelines and aggregation strategies in underwriting decisions.
• Identify and clarify coverage types and any coverage gaps to agents.
• Oversee an assigned portfolio to meet targets for premium, profitability, rate, retention, industry and line-of-business mix, new business, and portfolio management.
• Build profitable relationships with agencies, internal management, and external partners.
• Develop and execute portfolio business plans, including special projects.
• Analyze metrics, uncover trends, and identify new business prospects.
• Implement profit enhancement initiatives in collaboration with key agents.
• Coordinate with Specialty departments to explore cross-selling opportunities.
• Identify enhanced sales prospects across various lines of business and customer segments.
• Leverage value propositions to enhance agency economics, partner conversions, and product specialization.
• Manage relationships with producers, facilitate negotiations, and secure commitments.
• Execute territory business plans and monitor performance to ensure a pipeline for profitable growth.
• Make regular sales presentations to agents and customers, and engage in complex account management.
• Identify customer needs, position appropriate solutions, address objections, and successfully close deals.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Allied Healthcare Underwriting.
• Strong preference for candidates with a background in wholesale and non-admitted business.
• 5+ years of experience fostering agency relationships that yield profitable new and renewal business.
• In-depth technical knowledge of healthcare facilities.
• Willingness to travel by car or plane approximately 25% of the time.
• High proficiency in core underwriting competencies.
• Strong problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively.
• Adaptability to change and an openness to innovative thinking.
• Capability to influence others and advocate for change.
• Informal leadership skills and proactive sharing of knowledge.
• Advanced understanding of underwriting principles, including risk selection, exposure and hazard identification and control, coverage implications, and loss analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of pricing components and rating methodologies.
• Familiarity with CAT guidelines and aggregation strategies.
• Understanding of insurance coverages and potential coverage gaps.
• Proven experience in managing portfolios to achieve profitability, rate, retention, industry, and line-of-business mix goals.
• Competence in independently constructing and executing portfolio business plans.
• Ability to recognize trends and pursue new business opportunities.
• Strong skills in sales, negotiation, relationship management, and closing deals.
