Commercial Legal Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of strategy, negotiations, and the implementation of significant commercial agreements, such as SaaS, technology licensing, partnerships, marketing, services, and agency arrangements.

• Create and enhance negotiation standards, playbooks, templates, and contracting policies.

• Provide guidance on legal matters related to AI, machine learning, intellectual property, data privacy, security, and emerging regulatory considerations.

• Optimize contracting workflows, governance, and analytics through the use of Ironclad and AI-enabled tools.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, marketing, finance, and human resources teams to assess risks and tackle complex challenges.

• Recognize emerging legal and commercial risks and devise proactive solutions.

• Consult outside counsel when specialized expertise is required.

• Report directly to the Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

• Over 8 years of pertinent experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal setting.

• Significant responsibility in managing complex technology transactions and commercial matters.

• Proficient in negotiating advanced SaaS, licensing, partnership, and technology agreements.

• Extensive knowledge of AI-related commercial legal issues, including enterprise risk, intellectual property, data privacy, and security.

• Experience in establishing legal contracting standards, playbooks, and scalable operational frameworks.

• Practical experience with Ironclad or similar contract lifecycle management platforms.

• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to assess complex risks while offering practical recommendations to senior stakeholders.

• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.

• Permanent authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

• Bonus: Experience in fintech or financial services, AI/ML technologies, cloud services, and advertising or marketing transactions.
