Commercial & Defense Sales Manager – Power Electronics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Drive growth in both commercial and defense sectors through the acquisition of new business, expansion of strategic accounts, and capturing complex opportunities.

• Formulate and implement territory and account strategies to stimulate customer demand and secure orders.

• Identify, target, and finalize new business opportunities that align with CPI Power Electronics’ offerings.

• Engage with customers to shape requirements, specifications, and design-in decisions.

• Cultivate relationships with engineering, supply chain, program, and executive stakeholders.

• Present technical solutions for customer applications, platform integration, adoption, and repeat business.

• Oversee commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and the closure of deals.

• Manage and grow strategic commercial accounts and Tier 1 defense partnerships.

• Lead initiatives for pursuing and capturing complex, multi-phase opportunities and long-cycle programs.

• Develop winning strategies, coordinate proposals, and navigate both commercial and defense procurement landscapes.

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and leadership teams on customer-focused solutions and proposals.

• Aid in resolving critical escalations from customers.

• Identify adjacent markets and emerging applications for CPI power electronics technologies.

• Enhance market presence via channel partners, distributors, VARs, and industry connections.

• Represent the company at customer locations, trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

• Monitor competitive positioning, pricing dynamics, and price-to-win objectives.

• Collect customer and market intelligence to support growth strategies and product direction.

• Maintain precise pipeline visibility and opportunity progression within CRM systems.

• Qualify opportunities and facilitate prompt conversion from pipeline to confirmed orders.

• Provide leadership with insights into significant pursuits, capture status, and anticipated order activity.


⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a relevant technical discipline.

• Proven success in sales driven by orders, with a strong history of acquiring new business and closing complex deals.

• Demonstrated experience in selling power electronics solutions, including power supplies, converters, inverters, RF power systems, high-voltage systems, or related technologies.

• Experience engaging with both commercial customers and defense-related accounts, programs, or integrators.

• Capability to engage credibly with engineering teams, supply chain leaders, program stakeholders, and executive decision-makers.

• Proven track record in managing long-cycle opportunities and multi-stakeholder pursuits from identification to order closure.

• Strong commercial insight in pricing, negotiation, competitive positioning, and capture strategy.

• Familiarity with CRM systems and disciplined practices for pipeline management.

• Ability to manage multiple complex opportunities concurrently while maintaining focus on order conversion.

• Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 50%–75% of the time.

• Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain clearance is preferred.

• Experience supporting radar, electronic warfare (EW), communications, aerospace, or mission-critical power systems is preferred.

• Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, FAR/DFARS, and defense program lifecycles is preferred.

• Established relationships with Tier 1 defense primes, integrators, industrial OEMs, or strategic commercial customers are preferred.

• Background in high-reliability, harsh-environment, or mission-critical electronics markets is preferred.
