Commercial Casualty Litigation Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +42 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary adjuster when injury exposures are recognized.

• Oversee claims until resolution, including trial phases for litigated claims.

• Manage complex first- and third-party auto liability injury cases.

• Address first-party medical payment and PIP claims as required.

• Manage, investigate, and negotiate claims effectively.

• Work in collaboration with defense counsel to formulate negotiation strategies.

• Provide guidance and settlement authority to defense counsel.

• Oversee defense costs and indemnity.

• Represent the organization during mediations and settlement conferences via phone, video, or in-person.

• Assess coverage issues and provide advice to customers accordingly.

• Conduct thorough investigations, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing medical records and other evidence.

• Determine the necessity of an independent medical examination.

• Guide defense counsel on litigated and non-litigated claims.

• Appear and represent insured clients at arbitrations and trials as necessary.

• Provide deposition testimony when required.

• Review and resolve defense counsel fees and associated costs.

• Assess subrogation potential and initiate subrogation notice requests.

• Make settlement decisions within authority and formulate negotiation tactics.

• Present cases to committees when seeking authority beyond settlement limits.

• Create and deliver executive claim summaries to both external clients and internal executives.

• Manage commercial products such as auto, fleet, last-mile delivery, and trucking.

• Handle claims across various geographic locations and vehicle types.

• Implement insurance program agreements and claim service level agreements.

• Mentor, train, and coach fellow adjusters.

• Engage in company culture activities, employee resource groups, and volunteering efforts.

• Travel as necessary for team, divisional, and other in-person meetings.

• Support organizational needs, including assisting other teams and dedicating extra time when required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of claims experience.

• At least 3 years of experience in a Casualty claims role within the property and casualty insurance sector.

• At least 1 year in a Senior Casualty role or equivalent experience in Complex Casualty / Litigation.

• A BA/BS in business, insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must possess an Adjuster license for all relevant states or acquire the licenses within 90 days of starting the position as a condition of employment.

• Over 6 years of experience as a Casualty claims adjuster.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Commercial claims role.

• Proficiency or the ability to gain proficiency in managing minor, moderate, and complex litigated claims.

• Capability to work remotely from anywhere in the United States, excluding Hawaii and Alaska.

• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the United States.
