Collections Specialist, Accounts Receivable

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Assume complete responsibility for overdue balances, delinquent accounts, and pending invoices.

• Reach out to clients, follow up on overdue payments, and negotiate payment plans.

• Determine causes of payment delays and address billing disputes.

• Keep precise records of collection activities, payment statuses, and client interactions.

• Create, issue, and monitor invoices with accuracy and timeliness.

• Maintain account records and perform reconciliation of entries.

• Provide support with fundamental administrative accounting tasks using QuickBooks.

• Identify obstacles in billing and collections processes and enhance cash flow.

• Collaborate closely with a successful business owner, taking full ownership of Accounts Receivable responsibilities.

• Submit a 2–3 minute application video detailing your background in AR and collections, experiences with difficult accounts, an example of a successful collection, and why you believe you are a good fit for this role.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in managing Accounts Receivable and pursuing payments.

• A proven history of overseeing receivables, managing overdue accounts, and reducing aged balances.

• Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to overcome objections and advocate for resolutions.

• Practical experience with QuickBooks, invoicing processes, and basic bookkeeping or financial administration (preferred).

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Capacity to work autonomously in a dynamic remote setting while managing multiple tasks.

• Assertive and tenacious in holding clients accountable and following up on payments.

• Comfortable with phone communication and direct outreach efforts.

• Proficient in managing difficult conversations without losing focus.

• Capable of receiving payments via Wise; Wise must facilitate local bank transfers in the candidate's country of residence/bank location.

• Must be available during U.S. Eastern Standard Time working hours.
