Collections Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Report to the Head of Operations.

• Develop, recruit, and lead Earnest’s Personal Loans collections team, which includes supervisors and collectors as the team grows.

• Take ownership of the execution of the collections program throughout various delinquency stages, collaborating closely with Risk on strategy and guidance.

• Manage relationships with third-party collection agencies, encompassing selection, onboarding, performance oversight, and volume allocation.

• Oversee collections performance and reporting across essential KPIs, including roll rates, cure rates, cost to collect, and right-party contact.

• Ensure that collections activities comply with FDCPA and relevant state regulations, partnering with Legal & Compliance for complaint monitoring, audits, and corrective actions.

• Develop and refine collections processes, procedures, and SOPs while identifying solutions to address gaps between current tools and platform capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in consumer lending collections or loan servicing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

• Proven experience in managing third-party collection agencies and enhancing performance through data and key collections KPIs.

• In-depth knowledge of collections compliance and regulatory requirements, including FDCPA and applicable state laws.

• Excellent cross-functional communication abilities with experience collaborating with teams such as Risk, Product, Legal, and Compliance.

• Comfortable with building and scaling teams, processes, and programs in a dynamic environment where structure may still be developing.

• Experience within fintech, digital lending, or non-bank financial services.

• Proven track record of establishing or scaling a collections team or program from the ground up.

• Familiarity with personal loans, student loans, or unsecured installment lending.

• Successful history of working with Risk, Product, or Data partners on strategic initiatives, with an emphasis on utilizing automation or modern technology to enhance collections processes.
