Collections Associate – Landlord/Tenant Administration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of a designated geographic portfolio involving collections and landlord/tenant litigation matters.

• Oversee all landlord/tenant litigation in the assigned area from start to finish.

• Organize and facilitate monthly meetings with local landlord/tenant legal counsel to discuss case progress and upcoming actions within the portfolio.

• Timely and accurately input and update landlord/tenant case information in the property management system.

• Collaborate with community managers, regional personnel, and external landlord/tenant legal counsel to regularly initiate legal proceedings for non-payment against current tenants, as well as holdover and other necessary actions on an as-needed basis.

• Act as the primary contact, along with the community manager, for external landlord/tenant counsel regarding information requests and settlement discussions.

• Ensure adherence to company standards regarding the initiation, management, and monitoring of collections and landlord/tenant legal issues, ensuring consistency and timeliness.

• Recognize trends or problems within the designated geography and report them to regional operations staff and the Collections and Landlord/Tenant Administration Manager as necessary.

• Track and analyze portfolio KPIs (such as case aging, cycle time, and recovery rate) for the assigned geographic area.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required.

• A minimum of two (2) years of prior experience as a paralegal or in legal case management is required; experience in landlord/tenant, eviction, or collections matters is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with property management systems (such as Yardi, RealPage, or similar) is preferred.

• Strong organizational and case management abilities, with a capacity to handle a large number of active matters across various jurisdictions simultaneously.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of effective collaboration with outside legal counsel, community managers, and regional staff.

• Sound judgment and discretion in managing sensitive tenant, legal, and settlement information.

• Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting and meet competing deadlines within the designated area.
