This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership and manage a specific geographic portfolio of collections and landlord/tenant litigation matters, alongside overseeing supervisory responsibilities.
• Oversee all landlord/tenant litigation within the designated area from initiation to resolution.
• Organize and facilitate monthly update meetings with local landlord/tenant counsel to assess case status and outline next steps across the portfolio.
• Timely and accurately enter and maintain updates on landlord/tenant cases in the property management system.
• Collaborate with community managers, regional staff, and external local landlord/tenant counsel to consistently initiate legal proceedings for non-payment against current tenants, as well as holdover and other proceedings as necessary.
• Act as the primary contact, along with the community manager, for external landlord/tenant counsel regarding information requests and settlement discussions.
• Supervise, mentor, and provide support to a team of 4 to 5 members, each tasked with similar landlord/tenant administrative responsibilities within their own geographic areas.
• Assess the case management and litigation activities of direct reports to ensure consistency, timeliness, and adherence to company standards and relevant landlord/tenant laws.
• Recognize trends or issues across various geographies and escalate them to the General Counsel, Property Management, as needed.
• Track and report on team-wide portfolio KPIs — including case aging, cycle time, collections recovery rate, and external counsel expenditure — across all direct reports, in addition to relevant metrics on their own limited caseload.
• Execute other responsibilities as assigned.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• At least five (5) years of prior experience as a paralegal or in legal case management is required; experience with landlord/tenant, eviction, or collections matters is highly preferred.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring team members is preferred.
• Familiarity with property management systems (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, or similar) is preferred.
• Strong organizational and case management abilities, capable of handling a high volume of active matters across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to work effectively with external counsel, community managers, and regional staff.
• Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in managing sensitive tenant, legal, and settlement information.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage competing deadlines across an assigned geographic area.
