📋 Description

• Assign the correct ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for various outpatient visit types.

• Allocate Evaluation and Management codes for physician encounters.

• Conduct a comprehensive review of medical records and documentation to accurately code diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management services.

• Partner with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical departments to provide expertise in coding reimbursement.

• Analyze health record documentation to accurately report diagnoses and procedures.

• Adhere to official coding guidelines and references.

• Address NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient claim edit failures.

• Achieve minimum productivity and quality standards for coding outpatient encounter types.

• Perform additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare environment.

• Certification such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC.

• Membership with AHIMA or AAPC.

• Must reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, or Missouri.

• Part-time position requiring 20 hours per week.

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding.

• Strong understanding of HCPCS Level I and II procedural codes.

• Familiar with NCD/LCD and NCCI edits.

• Knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology.

• Well-versed in ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCS, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes.

• Achieve a minimum coding accuracy of 95%.

• Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards in coding.

• Successful completion of a criminal history background check upon hiring.
