This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
β’ Conduct thorough reviews and accurately code and abstract fundamental services, encompassing outpatient diagnostic testing, Emergency Department visits, laboratory services, radiology, minor primary care services, and other less intricate medical coding.
β’ Allocate ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes in accordance with established coding guidelines, rules, and regulations.
β’ Execute professional coding for minor primary care, Urgent Care, and/or Emergency Department encounters.
β’ Assess evaluation and management codes along with CPT procedure codes.
β’ Carry out facility charging for E&M levels, CPT procedures, and/or medication administration in Emergency Department/Observation units.
β’ Conduct hospital coding for diagnoses and/or CPT procedure coding related to emergency department, laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic services.
β’ Examine medical documentation to ensure it substantiates the assigned codes.
β’ Liaise with providers to clarify documentation or to request additional information as necessary.
β’ Collaborate with team members and departments to achieve monthly departmental objectives, including DNFB, Pre-AR, Denials, and Claim Edits.
β’ Investigate patient accounts in response to inquiries and/or discrepancies.
β’ Adhere to departmental productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
β’ Confirm accurate discharge disposition based on medical documentation.
β’ Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
β’ Report any known or suspected unethical behavior and compliance issues as required.
β’ High School diploma or an equivalent qualification.
β’ A minimum of 1 year of coding experience OR possession of an AHIMA/AAPC certification.
β’ Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
β’ Computer proficiency and dexterity for efficient data entry and information retrieval.
β’ Competence in using Windows-style applications, role-specific software, and keyboard operations.
β’ Capability to adhere to applicable Medicare, Medicaid, third-party payer, federal, state, and local legislation, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
