This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with senior design teams to create multi-domain co-simulation and digital twin capabilities for the design and construction of data centers.
• Conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling for data centers and their related internal and external environments.
• Work with design teams to establish co-simulation goals, performance metrics, acceptance criteria, prerequisites, assumptions, and initial conditions.
• Identify coupling strategies and model boundaries across 1D networks, 3D CFD, and control systems.
• Develop thermo-hydraulic flow-network models for chilled water and liquid cooling systems, including components such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, CDUs, manifolds, and cold plates.
• Construct and sustain steady-state and transient system-level models, accounting for redundancy/failure-mode scenarios and the impacts of control logic.
• Create co-simulation interfaces between 1D networks and 3D CFD/thermal models, overseeing data exchange, time steps, and convergence.
• Execute pressure-drop, flow-balancing, and heat-rejection analyses to confirm design intent and assist in equipment selection and sizing.
• Develop and maintain simulation-ready schematics, component libraries, metadata, reusable model assets, and digital twin workflows.
• Create or assess model setups, boundary conditions, solver settings, co-simulation time steps, and quality checks.
• Draft and review co-simulation reports that document assumptions, methodologies, results, and design recommendations.
• Aid in proposals that outline the modeling scope, schedule, and budget.
• Present modeling findings, interpret results, and offer engineering recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee modeling tasks, resource forecasting, coordination, version control, and management of model assets/scripts.
• Conduct QA/QC peer reviews of co-simulation models.
• Validate and calibrate system/co-simulation results utilizing analytical techniques and real-world data.
• Gather and reconcile BMS/SCADA data, along with flow, temperature, and pressure measurements for model calibration.
• Prepare validation and calibration reports that detail comparisons, uncertainties, limitations, and performance envelopes.
• Collaborate with CFD, design, commissioning, operations, and project management teams.
• Address technical inquiries related to modeling assumptions, results, and design implications.
• Review and approve model updates based on validation outcomes and project modifications.
