Cloud Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee enterprise-level Microsoft Azure platforms ensuring multi-region resilience and eliminating single points of failure.

• Direct the architecture of Azure Landing Zones, including governance, networking, security, and platform standards.

• Facilitate reviews of the Azure Well-Architected Framework and promote engineering best practices.

• Develop enterprise Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

• Oversee Azure networking, identity management, security, and platform observability by leveraging Azure-native services and Dynatrace.

• Implement FinOps methodologies through Azure Cost Management, tagging, budgeting, and optimization strategies.

• Manage disaster recovery and business continuity utilizing Azure-native resilience services.

• Propel AI-enhanced cloud operations, automation, and intelligent platform engineering initiatives.

• Provide mentorship to engineers, lead architecture evaluations, and shape the overall enterprise cloud strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Over 10 years of experience in designing enterprise cloud infrastructure.

• More than 7 years of experience in designing and managing Microsoft Azure platforms.

• Demonstrated success in delivering Azure Landing Zones, governance, networking, identity management, and security at an enterprise level.

• Extensive knowledge of Azure compute, networking, storage, monitoring, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Azure DevOps, and CI/CD practices.

• Familiarity with the Azure Well-Architected Framework, FinOps, disaster recovery, and platform reliability.

• Strong technical leadership skills with a track record of influencing architecture across engineering teams.

• Experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.

• Proficiency in multi-cloud Terraform and cloud-agnostic Infrastructure as Code is advantageous.

• Knowledge of identity federation using Microsoft Entra ID, OIDC, or SAML would be beneficial.

• Experience with observability platforms such as Dynatrace or Datadog is a plus.

• Knowledge of FinOps and enterprise cloud cost optimization is preferred.

• Microsoft Azure certifications are highly valued, including AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, and AZ-700.

• Terraform Associate or Professional certification is required.

• FinOps Practitioner / FinOps Certified Engineer certification is preferred.

• AWS or GCP certifications are welcomed for multi-cloud experience.
