This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Collaborate closely with AWS and GCP account and technical teams to uncover savings opportunities, resolve billing or data challenges, and ensure the fulfillment of optimization commitments.
β’ Create and oversee a pipeline of initiatives aimed at reducing cloud costs across compute, storage, networking, and platform services.
β’ Work alongside engineering teams to define, prioritize, and monitor rightsizing, commitment optimization, architectural changes, and workload migration projects.
β’ Track cloud expenditures, identify anomalies, forecast spending, and pinpoint optimization opportunities, proactively recognizing risks and improvement areas.
β’ Utilize cloud billing, usage, tagging, and allocation data to facilitate cost analysis and validate savings.
β’ Generate financial analyses, business cases, forecasts, and savings reports for senior and executive stakeholders.
β’ Simplify complex cloud infrastructure and financial data into straightforward recommendations and narratives for decision-making.
β’ Take ownership of ongoing cloud cost governance and reporting processes across engineering and leadership teams.
β’ Enhance processes related to tagging, forecasting, cost allocation, savings validation, and optimization tracking.
β’ Oversee timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables across various engineering and business teams.
β’ Propel execution through influence and robust stakeholder relationships rather than through direct authority.
β’ Contribute to a large-scale cloud optimization initiative for a Fortune 50 technology company.
β’ 14+ years of professional experience, including substantial experience leading intricate technical programs in large enterprise settings.
β’ Strong background in FinOps, cloud cost optimization, cloud economics, or cloud financial management.
β’ In-depth knowledge of AWS and/or GCP, encompassing cloud infrastructure, pricing, billing, usage, and cost optimization principles.
β’ Proven track record of driving quantifiable cloud cost optimization initiatives alongside engineering or infrastructure teams.
β’ Significant Technical Program Management experience across complex, cross-functional engineering projects.
β’ Experience collaborating directly with Cloud Service Providers and/or managing technical and cost initiatives related to CSPs.
β’ Proficiency with cloud cost and usage data, and familiarity with SQL, scripting, data pipelines, and/or data modeling.
β’ Experience in developing financial analyses, forecasts, business cases, savings reports, and communications for executive-level audiences.
β’ Demonstrated ability to influence engineering teams and drive outcomes without direct management authority.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior and executive stakeholders.
β’ Located in the United States or Canada with availability for significant overlap with Pacific Time.
β’ For candidates in the US, current authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship.
β’ Familiarity with Apptio Cloudability, VMware CloudHealth, or similar FinOps platforms.
β’ Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), GCP Cloud Billing, or equivalent native CSP tools.
β’ FinOps Foundation certification or other formal training in FinOps.
β’ Experience supporting cloud environments operating at a significant enterprise scale.
β’ Background in designing or enhancing tagging, cost allocation, forecasting, anomaly management, or cloud governance processes.
β’ Exposure to multi-cloud cost optimization involving both AWS and GCP.
