Clinician Coding Liaison – Primary Care

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide proactive coding education through newsletters, scorecards, and presentations.

• Facilitate onboarding and compliance training for employed Physicians/APPs, locum tenens, residents, and students.

• Assess new clinician records and perform spot checks to offer personalized documentation feedback.

• Act as the primary contact for coding questions and oversee the resolution of intricate coding issues.

• Supervise Epic charge review, follow-up, and claim edit work queues.

• Collaborate with CMOs, Clinical Informatics, Risk Adjustment, and Population Health teams.

• Engage in specialty and departmental meetings, recognize trends, and provide targeted education.

• Enhance Epic documentation tools, templates, order entries, diagnosis lists, SmartSets, and SmartPhrases.

• Ensure adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, and AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding.

• Foster ethical coding and continuous improvement through timely updates, feedback, and education.


⛳️ Requirements

• Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA.

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification is mandatory.

• Additional specialty credentials are preferred.

• Completion of advanced training through a recognized or accredited program that is equivalent in scope and rigor to post-secondary education, or possess equivalent knowledge.

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• Typically requires 4 years of experience in expert-level professional coding.

• Extensive knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

• Advanced proficiency in Epic and other reporting tools.

• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, electronic coding applications, and email communication.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Ability to adhere to remote work policies and guidelines.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday between 6:00am and 6:00pm CST.
