This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in the execution of programming that aligns with the strategic priorities of the CPC.
• Offer classification guidance, support, and educational resources to athletes, stakeholders, members, and performance partners.
• Create training programs and resources to address any classification deficiencies.
• Collaborate with National Sport Organizations to ensure athletes fulfill classification requirements and address any related challenges.
• Partner with the Paralympic performance team, Performance Sciences, Research and Innovation Advisor, Athlete Services, and performance partners to develop evidence-based classification solutions.
• Ensure that classification services and programming prioritize an athlete-centric approach.
• Contribute to and execute multi-year classification plans, objectives, and budgets.
• Establish partnerships and manage relationships with international stakeholders, including International Federations, National Paralympic Committees, officials, volunteers, advisory groups, and IPC departments.
• Oversee Canada's adherence to the IPC Classification Code.
• Guide Canada’s participation in future assessments of the IPC Athlete Classification Code and related materials.
• Direct the CPC's national classification strategy and implement suggested improvements.
• Aid in the formation of networks for classification medical experts and Visual Impairment Classification strategies.
• Create tools, resources, webpages, and educational materials aimed at classification audiences.
• Engage with IPCs, IFs, and NPCs regarding classification protocols, processes, reviews, and best practices.
• Facilitate international classifier training and assist in athletes’ international classifications.
• Coordinate classification strategies specific to Games and provide advice during the Games.
• A post-secondary degree, ideally in kinesiology or sport management, or comparable experience in a similar role within a sport organization or as an athlete or coach.
• 3–5 years of experience in a leadership role within Canadian sports.
• Experience within a National Sport Organization.
• Experience in multi-sport Games settings.
• Being a Paralympian is an advantageous asset.
• In-depth technical knowledge of sports, including the Canadian Sport system and the International Olympic and Paralympic Sport System.
• Comprehensive understanding of classification processes.
• Strong grasp of the IPC, National Paralympic Committees, and the sport systems of other countries.
• Solid understanding of the Games environment.
• Capability to navigate complex environments and resolve issues effectively.
• Skills in planning, coordinating, delivering, and reviewing targeted initiatives while adapting to change.
• Proficient in managing relationships and collaborating with both internal and external colleagues.
• Proficient in office applications, including email, project planning, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
• Ability to communicate in Canada’s two official languages is highly valued.
