Claims Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee lower-level, uncomplicated workers’ compensation claims within assigned limited authority.

• Manage claims under the direct guidance of a senior claims professional.

• Receive workers’ compensation claims and verify policy coverage along with claim acknowledgment.

• Assess claim validity and compensability.

• Set reserves and approve payments within the limits of reserving authority.

• Handle uncomplicated lost-time workers’ compensation claims under close supervision.

• Update customers, claimants, and clients on claim status.

• Follow client and carrier protocols.

• Take part in claims reviews as necessary.

• Support claims professionals with more intricate or challenging claims.

• Adhere to safety regulations and rules during working hours.

• Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.

• At least 1 year of experience in the industry with a preference for claims management.

• Must maintain a current license or certification in Workers’ Compensation throughout employment with CorVel.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Quick learner with the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of claims practices.

• Proficient in identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues.

• Strong computer skills and technical aptitude.

• Competent in using Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheets.

• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational abilities.

• Capability to meet or exceed performance metrics.

• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.

• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
