Claims Examiner – Workers Compensation Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the functioning of various teams comprising workers' compensation examiners and technical personnel.

• Evaluate colleagues' workloads, offer training, and supervise individual claims activities.

• Provide technical and jurisdictional guidance to examiners regarding claims adjudication.

• Maintain claim diaries, including frequent updates on intricate or high-exposure claims.

• Analyze and manage complex or technically challenging general liability claims.

• Investigate and collect information to assess claim exposure.

• Direct claims via action plans towards timely resolution.

• Oversee the litigation process to ensure timely and cost-effective claims resolution.

• Coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigations and/or litigation management.

• Conduct team meetings and assign accountability for follow-up tasks.

• Collect compliance and claims-processing data for team meetings.

• Assist in interviewing adjusters and clerical staff, providing feedback to the hiring manager.

• Support monthly evaluations of adjuster workloads, identify trends, and recommend adjustments.

• Implement company personnel policies and adhere to staffing and training standards.

• Conduct interviews, hire staff, establish performance development plans, and lead performance discussions.

• Offer support, guidance, leadership, and motivation.

• May supervise up to three direct reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of claims management experience or a comparable combination of education and experience is required.

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

• Professional certification relevant to the line of business is preferred.

• Knowledge and experience in Workers' Compensation are essential.

• Supervisory experience and knowledge are required.

• Jurisdiction knowledge and licensing: CA.

• Ability to analyze and handle complex or technically challenging claims.

• Strong conceptual and clear thinking abilities.

• Excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical skills, and discretion.

• Capacity to manage work-related stress and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to meet deadlines consistently.

• Proficient in computer keyboarding.

• Capable of hearing, vision, and speaking.
