Claims Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Offer technical oversight and strategic guidance on intricate and high-stakes workers’ compensation claims

• Ensure thorough investigations, reserving, evaluation, litigation management, and settlement strategies are in place

• Facilitate monthly Plan of Action meetings and claim reviews for high-stakes claims typically exceeding $500,000 in exposure

• Investigate, manage, and resolve complex coverage issues, including questionable coverage claims, potential no-coverage scenarios, Employers Liability claims, and associated litigation

• Collaborate with claims leadership and coverage counsel on coverage disputes and litigation issues

• Conduct in-depth claim reviews and offer recommendations for effective resolution and favorable outcomes

• Lead CARE Reviews (Claims Audits) to assess claim quality, identify best practices, monitor operational performance, and reveal opportunities for improvement

• Analyze audit results and operational trends and provide actionable insights to claims leadership

• Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to field claims professionals and managers

• Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for claims staff

• Offer technical oversight and consultation on Argonaut Insurance claim activities, including reviews, reserve evaluations, settlement authority assessments, audits, and special projects

• Investigate emerging claim issues and create jurisdiction-specific training and resources for expansion into new states and markets

• Conduct Burn Rate Reviews of open, high-exposure claims

• Work collaboratively with senior claims leadership to develop and uphold claims policies, procedures, and operational best practices

• Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations for claims leadership

• Manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in a dynamic environment

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline is preferred

• AIC (Associate in Claims) designation is preferred

• SCLA (Senior Claims Law Associate) designation is preferred

• CSRP (Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional) designation is preferred

• Claims Adjusting License is preferred

• A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible claims experience, encompassing substantial workers’ compensation and commercial liability claims experience

• Significant experience managing complex litigation and high-exposure claims is strongly preferred

• Proven experience providing guidance, consultation, or leadership to claims professionals and management teams
