Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and inspections of damage to both residential and commercial properties.

• Act as the initial point of contact for insured clients, explaining their coverage, estimating damages, and guiding them through the claims process.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties to collect information and resolve claims effectively.

• Maintain professionalism when interacting with individuals expressing strong emotions or concerns.

• Deliver outstanding customer service and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and prepare comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust claims for personal and commercial properties with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ensure claim validity and compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.

• Work remotely and utilize a mobile office or vehicle for in-person meetings.

• Serve the Kingsport/Johnson City, Tennessee area while occasionally providing support to other territories.

• Adapt to flexible work schedules, which may include overtime or irregular hours.

• Capability to investigate issues, assess information, and make informed decisions.

• Proficient in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Quick learner of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Ability to interact effectively with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with robust organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical capability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, stoop, lift, carry, unfold, climb ladders, traverse roofs, and maneuver in tight spaces.

• May need to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver’s license is mandatory.

• Must successfully complete required training, proficiency and licensing exams, Motor Vehicle Record checks, and background checks.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Understanding of property insurance concepts and general claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Basic knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and materials.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection techniques.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
