Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and assessments of damages to residential and commercial properties.

• Serve as the initial point of contact for insured individuals, clarifying coverage, estimating damages, and guiding them through the claims process.

• Collaborate effectively with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties.

• Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with parties who may be experiencing strong emotions or concerns.

• Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving concerns.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and create comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures of up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ensure claim validity and compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within designated authorization limits.

• Operate from home while utilizing a mobile office or vehicle for in-person appointments.

• Travel outside the assigned area as necessary to support other regions.

• Proficiency in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Quick adaptability to learn unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Ability to engage effectively with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional conversations.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical capabilities.

• Competence in using mobile and desktop tools to document and facilitate claims in both field and remote settings.

• Physical agility sufficient for walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, unfolding, and climbing ladders.

• Ability to utilize appropriate equipment for traversing roofs at varying heights and pitches.

• Capability to crawl in confined spaces.

• May be required to undergo Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is mandatory.

• Completion of required training, proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks is essential.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Familiarity with property insurance concepts, coverage fundamentals, and general practices in claims handling.

• Preferred: Basic knowledge of residential and commercial construction and materials.

• Preferred: Understanding of water mitigation principles and inspection methodologies.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.

• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including overtime and/or irregular hours.
