Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and assessments of damages to both residential and commercial properties.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties to collect information and resolve claims.

• Engage with individuals expressing strong emotions or concerns regarding inspections or claim resolutions.

• Deliver customer service throughout the entire claims process.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and compile comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust claims for personal and commercial properties with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ascertain claim validity and compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits, adhering to policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines.

• Operate from home while utilizing a mobile office/vehicle for in-person appointments.

• Service the assigned Portland/Beaverton area and occasionally travel beyond to support other territories.

• Complete virtual work from home as necessary.

• Ability to investigate issues, assess information, and make sound decisions based on evidence.

• Capability to interpret detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and apply them accurately.

• Quick learner of new concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Proficiency in interacting effectively with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for handling challenging and emotional conversations.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical agility required for walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, unfolding, climbing ladders, navigating roofs, and crawling in tight spaces.

• May need to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• A valid driver's license is mandatory.

• Employees are required to successfully complete necessary training, applicable proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Knowledge of property insurance concepts, coverage basics, and claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Fundamental understanding of residential and commercial construction and building materials/components.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection procedures.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.

• Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and/or irregular hours.
