Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site inspections and evaluations of damages to both residential and commercial properties.

• Serve as the initial point of contact for insured individuals, explaining coverage, estimating damages, and guiding them through the claims process.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other stakeholders to collect information and resolve claims effectively.

• Engage with individuals who may express strong emotions or concerns regarding inspections or claim resolutions.

• Deliver outstanding customer service and address inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and create comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to determine the validity of claims and ensure compliance with local regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits in accordance with policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines.

• Work remotely while utilizing a mobile office/vehicle for in-person appointments.

• Serve the designated Auburn, New York territory, with occasional travel outside to assist other areas as needed.

• Complete virtual work from home when applicable.

• Proficiency in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Ability to rapidly learn new concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Skill in effectively interacting with policyholders, agents, and stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional conversations.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical agility for various activities including walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, unfolding, climbing ladders, traversing roofs, and crawling in tight spaces.

• May be required to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• A valid driver's license is mandatory.

• Employees must successfully complete necessary training, relevant proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar discipline is preferred.

• Customer service experience is preferred.

• Understanding of property insurance concepts and claims handling practices is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and materials is preferred.

• Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes is preferred.

• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents is preferred.

• Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, and irregular hours is essential.
