Claim Specialist, Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and assessments of damages in both residential and commercial properties.

• Act as the initial point of contact by meeting with insured clients.

• Clarify coverage details, assess damages, and assist policyholders throughout the claims process.

• Collaborate effectively with policyholders, insurance agents, and other involved parties.

• Collect information, evidence, and document findings thoroughly.

• Compile comprehensive reports to support claims management.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ensure claim validity and compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within established authorized limits.

• Deliver outstanding customer service while addressing inquiries and concerns.

• Operate remotely and utilize a mobile office/vehicle for in-person meetings.

• Occasionally travel outside the assigned area to support other regions.

• Maintain flexible work schedules, which may include overtime or irregular hours.

• Proficient in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Quick learner of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Effective in engaging with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to navigate difficult or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical capabilities.

• Skilled in using mobile and desktop tools for documentation and claims support in both field and remote settings.

• Physically agile, capable of walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, unfolding, and climbing ladders.

• Able to utilize appropriate equipment to navigate roofs at various heights and pitches.

• Capacity to crawl in confined spaces.

• May need to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is required.

• Must successfully finish required training, proficiency and licensing examinations, MVR checks, and background checks.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or similar.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Understanding of property insurance concepts, coverage fundamentals, and general claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Basic knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and components/materials.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
