Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and inspections of damage to residential and commercial properties.

• Serve as the initial contact for insured clients, clarifying coverage details, estimating damages, and guiding them through the claims process.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties to collect information and resolve claims effectively.

• Maintain professionalism when interacting with individuals who may express strong emotions or concerns.

• Deliver outstanding customer service throughout the entire claims process.

• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust claims for both personal and commercial properties with exposures reaching up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to determine the validity of claims and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.

• Work remotely and utilize a mobile office/vehicle for in-person appointments.

• Occasionally travel outside the designated area to provide assistance in other territories.

• Quick learning of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Proficient interaction with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional conversations.

• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical capability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, lift, carry, unfold, climb ladders, traverse roofs, and crawl in tight spaces.

• May need to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is required.

• Successful completion of necessary training, applicable proficiency and licensing examinations, MVR checks, and background checks.

• Preferred bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.

• Preferred customer service experience.

• Preferred understanding of property insurance concepts and claims handling practices.

• Preferred foundational knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and materials.

• Preferred familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.

• Preferred working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.

• Flexibility and willingness to work varying schedules, overtime, and/or irregular hours.
