Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Manage claims related to accidents and weather for homeowners, commercial properties, and significant losses.

• Perform on-site evaluations and assessments of damage to residential and commercial properties.

• Act as the primary point of contact for insured clients.

• Clarify coverage details and estimate damages.

• Support policyholders throughout the claims process while delivering exceptional service.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other stakeholders involved.

• Collect information, evidence, and necessary documentation.

• Generate comprehensive reports that aid in the claims handling process.

• Investigate and adjust claims for personal and commercial properties with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ensure claim validity and adherence to regulations.

• Negotiate and resolve claims within authorized limits.

• Handle inquiries and concerns, including emotionally sensitive situations, in a professional manner.

• Occasionally travel outside the assigned territory to assist other regions.

• Highly experienced and skilled professional.

• Capable of investigating issues, evaluating information, and making informed decisions.

• Proficient in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical data and applying them correctly.

• Quick learner of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Effective at interacting with policyholders, agents, and other relevant parties.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing challenging or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physically agile, capable of walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, unfolding, and climbing ladders.

• Able to use the necessary equipment to navigate roofs of varying heights and pitches.

• Ability to crawl in confined spaces.

• May need to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver’s license is mandatory.

• A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required.

• Must successfully complete required training, proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background investigations.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Knowledge of property insurance concepts and claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Basic understanding of residential and commercial construction and associated components/materials.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection methodologies.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.

• Residence within one of the specified St. Louis-area ZIP codes.
