Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site inspections and evaluations of damage to residential and commercial properties

• Serve as the initial point of contact for insured clients

• Clarify coverage details and assess damages

• Guide policyholders through the claims process while delivering exceptional service

• Work collaboratively with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties

• Collect evidence and document observations

• Create comprehensive reports to support claims management

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000

• Assess coverage and policy terms for claim legitimacy and adherence to regulations

• Negotiate and settle claims within established authority limits

• Respond to customer inquiries and concerns efficiently and professionally

• Travel outside the designated area as necessary to assist in other regions

• Operate from home using a mobile office/vehicle for in-person visits and complete virtual tasks

• Capability to investigate issues, assess information, and make well-founded decisions

• Proficiency in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately

• Quick learner of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology

• Ability to engage effectively with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for handling challenging or emotional discussions

• Detail-oriented with robust organizational and analytical abilities

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely

• Physical agility required for walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, stooping, lifting, carrying, unfolding, climbing ladders, traversing roofs, and crawling in confined spaces

• Completion of Rope and Harness Safety Training may be necessary

• A valid driver’s license is mandatory

• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required

• Successful completion of all necessary training, proficiency standards, licensing exams, MVR checks, and background investigations

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar discipline is preferred

• Previous customer service experience is preferred

• Familiarity with property insurance concepts and general claims handling practices is preferred

• Basic understanding of residential and commercial building construction and materials is preferred

• Knowledge of water mitigation principles and inspection processes is preferred

• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents is preferred

• Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and irregular hours
