Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site inspections and evaluations of damages to residential and commercial properties.

• Act as the initial point of contact for insured clients.

• Clarify coverage details and assess damage estimates.

• Support policyholders throughout the claims process while delivering exceptional service.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other stakeholders.

• Collect evidence and document findings thoroughly.

• Create comprehensive reports that assist in claims handling.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures reaching up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ensure claim validity and compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and resolve claims within authorized limits, adhering to policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines.

• Operate from home and utilize a mobile office or vehicle for in-person meetings.

• Conduct virtual work from home as needed.

• Occasionally travel beyond the assigned area to support other territories.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for handling challenging or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims in the field and remotely.

• Physical capability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, lift, carry, unfold, and climb ladders.

• Ability to use appropriate equipment for traversing roofs of varying heights and pitches.

• Capability to crawl through tight spaces.

• May be required to undergo Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is mandatory.

• Motor Vehicle Record check and background check are required.

• Must successfully complete the necessary training, proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Knowledge of property insurance concepts and claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Understanding of residential and commercial building construction and components/materials.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.

• Must be flexible and willing to work irregular hours, overtime, and varied schedules.
