Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and inspections of damages to both residential and commercial properties.

• Act as the primary point of contact for insured individuals.

• Clarify coverage details and provide damage estimates.

• Assist policyholders throughout the claims process while delivering exceptional service.

• Work collaboratively with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties to collect information and resolve claims.

• Engage with individuals who may display strong emotions or concerns.

• Provide customer support and address any inquiries or issues.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and create comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with potential exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms for claim validity and compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and finalize claims within authorized limits, adhering to policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines.

• Manage the assigned Council Bluffs territory and occasionally support other territories.

• Operate from home and utilize a mobile office/vehicle for field appointments.

• Perform virtual work from home as needed.

• Capable of investigating issues, evaluating information, and making informed decisions.

• Proficient in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Quick learner of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminologies.

• Effective interaction skills with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional conversations.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physically agile enough to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, lift, carry, unfold, and climb ladders.

• Ability to use appropriate equipment for traversing roofs at varied heights and pitches.

• Capable of crawling in confined spaces.

• May be required to undergo Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is mandatory.

• Candidates must successfully complete required training, relevant proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or similar.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Knowledge of property insurance concepts, coverage fundamentals, and claim handling practices.

• Preferred: Basic understanding of residential and commercial building construction and materials.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.

• Must be willing and able to work flexible schedules, including overtime and/or irregular hours.
