Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Manage claims related to accidents and weather for homeowners, commercial properties, and significant losses.

• Perform on-site evaluations and inspections of damage to residential and commercial properties.

• Act as the primary contact for insured individuals, clarifying coverage details, estimating damages, and guiding them through the claims process.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and relevant parties to collect information and resolve claims effectively.

• Deliver outstanding customer service while addressing inquiries and concerns.

• Collect evidence, document observations, and compile comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust claims for personal and commercial properties with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to verify claim validity and ensure compliance with regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within assigned authority limits.

• Work remotely while utilizing a mobile office or vehicle for in-person meetings.

• Serve the designated Council Bluffs area and may occasionally travel outside this region to assist other areas.

• Proven experience and expertise in the field.

• Strong ability to investigate issues, assess information, and make informed decisions.

• Capability to interpret complex policies, guidelines, or technical information and apply them accurately.

• Quick learner with the ability to grasp new concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Effective interaction skills with policyholders, agents, and stakeholders.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for handling sensitive or emotional conversations.

• Detail-oriented with robust organizational and analytical capabilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools to document and manage claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical capacity to perform tasks such as walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, navigating roofs, and working in confined spaces.

• Completion of Rope and Harness Safety Training may be required.

• A valid driver’s license is mandatory.

• A Motor Vehicle Record check is necessary.

• Successful completion of training, proficiency assessments, licensing examinations, MVR checks, and background investigations as applicable.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar discipline is preferred.

• Prior customer service experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with property insurance concepts is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and materials is preferred.

• Understanding of water mitigation principles and inspection methods is preferred.

• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents is preferred.

• Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and/or irregular hours.
