Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.

📋 Description

• Manage claims related to accidents and weather for homeowners, commercial properties, and significant losses.

• Perform on-site inspections and evaluations of property damage for both residential and commercial assets.

• Serve as the initial contact for insured clients.

• Clarify coverage details and assess damages.

• Assist policyholders throughout the claims process while delivering exceptional service.

• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other parties involved.

• Collect information and resolve claims efficiently.

• Maintain professionalism when engaging with parties expressing strong emotions or concerns.

• Provide customer support and swiftly address inquiries and issues.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and create thorough reports.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms for claim validity and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.

• Work remotely and utilize a mobile office/vehicle for in-person meetings.

• Cover the designated Oahu territory and occasionally assist in other areas.

• Experienced and highly competent professional.

• Strong investigative skills with the ability to evaluate information and make informed decisions.

• Capability to interpret complex policies, guidelines, or technical details and apply them accurately.

• Quick learner of unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Skillful interaction with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for handling challenging or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical capabilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and managing claims in the field and remotely.

• Physical capability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, stoop, lift, carry, unfold, and climb ladders.

• Ability to use appropriate equipment for traversing roofs at varying heights and pitches.

• Capacity to crawl in tight spaces.

• May need to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is necessary.

• Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and/or irregular hours.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or similar.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Familiarity with property insurance concepts and general claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Basic knowledge of residential and commercial building construction, components, and materials.

• Preferred: Understanding of water mitigation principles and inspection procedures.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Xactimate and XactContents.

• Must successfully complete required training, relevant proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks.
