Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site inspections and evaluations of damages to residential and commercial properties.

• Serve as the initial point of contact for insured individuals.

• Clarify coverage details, assess damages, and assist policyholders throughout the claims process.

• Collaborate effectively with policyholders, insurance agents, and other parties involved.

• Engage with individuals who may express strong emotions or concerns regarding inspections or claim resolutions.

• Provide exceptional customer service while addressing inquiries and concerns.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and prepare comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures of up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to determine claim validity and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Negotiate and resolve claims within authorized limits.

• Operate from a home office while utilizing a mobile office/vehicle for in-person appointments.

• Occasionally travel outside the designated area to support other territories.

• Maintain flexible schedules and be available for potential overtime or irregular hours.

• Capability to investigate issues, evaluate information, and make well-informed decisions.

• Proficiency in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Quick adaptability to learn unfamiliar concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Effective interaction with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with robust organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools to document and manage claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical capability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, stoop, lift, carry, unfold, climb ladders, traverse roofs, and crawl in confined spaces.

• May be required to undergo Rope and Harness Safety Training.

• Valid driver's license is essential; a Motor Vehicle Record check is mandatory.

• Employees must successfully complete all required training, applicable proficiency and licensing examinations, MVR checks, and background investigations.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.

• Preferred: Experience in customer service.

• Preferred: Understanding of property insurance concepts and claims handling practices.

• Preferred: Basic knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and its components/materials.

• Preferred: Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
